House

Twelve slices of a birth chart, numbered counterclockwise from the ascendant. Each house carries a life area: 1st is self, 7th is partnership, 10th is career, and so on. When AIstra says "the events of this week fall in your 5th house," she means creativity, romance, and play.

A house is one of twelve sectors of the natal chart, numbered counterclockwise starting from the ascendant. Each house carries a life area. The first house is identity and body. The seventh is one-to-one partnership. The tenth is career and public role. The eighth is shared resources and deep change. And so on through twelve domains.

Where planets and signs say what kind of energy is moving, houses say where in life it lands. Mars in the 7th house: drive enacted in relationship. Saturn in the 10th: career as the site of structural lessons.

In Sun-sign daily horoscopes — the kind AIstra writes — houses are calculated from the Sun sign rather than from a personal natal chart. When she writes "the events of this week fall in your 5th house," she means the 5th house counted from your Sun sign, which corresponds to creativity, romance, and play.
